Conference: European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food

13.10.2015
The conference will bring foundations together with diverse stakeholders (civil society organisations, public, multilateral institutions and others) to look at good practices supported by foundations in the fields of land use and sustainable food systems and to discuss elements of success, replicability and the potential to scale-up.

Yearly EFSAF conference that will be held on 13-14 October 2015 in Milan.

EFC working group European Foundations for Family Farming (E4F) has renamed itself European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (EFSAF). Similar to E4F, EFSAF provides a lasting collaborative framework for European foundations that consider small-scale farming, family farming and agro-ecological practices to be vital to the sustainability of our food systems.

EFSAF’s priorities and principles, objectives and desired outcomes are outlined in the terms of reference available online here.

In brief, with small-scale agriculture, family farming and agro-ecological practice in mind as priorities, EFSAF members subscribe to the principles which already unite philanthropies under the Global Alliance for the Future of Food (GAFF).

EFSAF members also seek to address the power imbalances that reinforce the status quo and make externalities visible and seek to ensure a fuller participation of citizens and farmers in the social construction of food systems. EFSAF is open to foundations whose vision about the future of agriculture and food systems is aligned.

For the years 2015-2016, EFSAF has chosen to focus its work on two key topics: Land issues and sustainable food systems, both featured in policy discussions at the European and international level.
